Chapter 6 summary

Module 6 in “The Internet” explains the security aspect and threats that users face while using the Internet.  Threats from phishing scams, trojan horses and malwares are very real and pose serious damage to organizations and individuals alike. My previous employer would have all employees take a yearly cyber security course to keep us up to date on the current threats, how to prevent and how to spot suspicious e-mails that may harm the system. Keeping information safe is probably one of the most important aspects of keeping the Internet working properly. The terms I learned during this module, such as web bug and what is does, has made me more cognizant of the cookies and how to protect my system from these types tracking devices. This module was full of useful information that I will no doubt be using in the future.
